Sunovia Energy Technologies Received Certification

Sunovia Energy Technologies, a LED lighting company (OTC BB: SUNV) has announced today that it has received certification from DesignLight Consortium (DLC) for its EvoLucia ™ LED cobra head and shoebox fixtures in the Outdoor Pole/Arm-Mounted Area and Roadway Luminaires category.

EvoLucia's LED cobra head and shoebox fixtures are designed with Sunovia's award winning Aimed Optics™ platform. This technology creates uniformity in light on the ground by directing the LEDs as opposed to its competitors that bend the light through a light-bar system. The certification from the DLC will open up additional opportunities for Sunovia's LED fixtures by allowing its customers and suppliers to receive incentives from state and utility energy programs.

David Martin, VP of Engineering stated, "The Design Light Consortium has established a set of performance requirements for luminaire manufacturers that are not covered by the ENERGY STAR™ requirements. This has led to higher quality LED lighting products being created which demonstrate improved electrical performance, improved uniformity in photometric characteristics, and a more stringent definition of product lifetimes." Martin added, "With the DLC certifications in place not only does Sunovia have an advantage in the global marketplace but our customers will be able to benefit not only from the longevity of our products but the cost savings associated with better performance."

The DLC was formed in an alliance with the Northeast Energy Efficiency Partnerships and the Lighting Research Center to provide a means for manufacturers to submit their product specifications and have them evaluated among various state and utility standards around the country. Currently, the U.S. Department of Energy's (DOE) ENERGY STAR™ program does not have a rating for LED products such as the cobra head or shoebox fixtures. The DLC has taken the initiative to fill the void until standards are implemented by ENERGY STAR™. DOE's team is working with the DLC to develop the Qualified Products List (QPL) and procedures. Members of the DLC expect the products from their QPL to eventually be integrated into the ENERGY STAR™ list once subsequent categories are added.
