The Crude Steel Production of Arcelormittal Kryvyi Rih, Down 12.7 Percent Year on Year

In the first quarter of the current year, the crude steel production of ArcelorMittal Kryvyi Rih, Ukrainian subsidiary of global steel giant ArcelorMittal, totaled 1.4073 million mt, down 12.7 percent year on year, as announced by the company.

In addition, in the first three months of the year ArcelorMittal Kryvyi Rih registered a 11.4 percent decrease year on year in its finished steel output to 1.250 million mt, while its pig iron production in the given period declined by 11.6 percent year on year to 1.2421 million mt.

Meanwhile, in March alone, crude steel production at ArcelorMittal Kryvyi Rih decreased by 13 percent to 492,200 mt, output of finished steel went down by 9.7 percent to 454,400 mt, and production of pig iron declined by 11.67 percent to 433,700 mt, all on year-on-year basis.

According to the company's statement, in the last 10 days of March ArcelorMittal Kryvyi Rih had to slow down and stop blast furnace No. 9 for a week to repair its tap hole, and during this period the company produced less. Therefore, results of March were impacted in terms of less output than planned but the company's first quarter shipments were almost at the scheduled levels.
