TMC's Indian subsidiary Toyota Kirloskar Motor (TKM) is planning to build mid-class luxury sedan Camry at its Bengaluru facility starting this July.
As part of the phase-II expansion, the company aims to invest INR8.98bn ($175.16m) at the plant to produce 100,000 more cars by next year, which will increase the current production facility to 310,000 units annually.
Additionally the company is also investing INR5bn ($97.53m) in its engine and transmission plant, which is expected to start by the third quarter of this year and transmission by January-March next year.
TKM deputy managing director Sandeep Singh said the company's focus in India will be semi-urban and rural markets, to support its growth and also to increase the number of dealers from 173 to 225 by year-end.
"Etios localisation was currently 70% and it would be increased to 90% over the next two years," Singh said.
