DigiTimes Reports,The Top 25 IC Design Companies in China Grew an Average of 30%

The top 25 IC design companies in China grew an average of 30%, reports DigiTimes, with State Microelectronics leading the way on 170% growth.

Galaxycore and Spreadtrum came next with growth in the 60s of per cent, followed by China's largest IC design company, HiSilicon, with growth in the 30s of per cent.

HiSilicon had revenues of over US$1bn last year; Spreadtrum had revenues of around $685m; State Microelectronics had revenues of about $175m; and Galaxycore had revenues of  about $143bn.

China Ic Companies Grow 30%Also with 30%+ growth rates were RDA (revenues of $286m) and Silan (revenues of $207m).

DigiTimes attributes the high growth rates of China's IC design companies to be 'partly due to China-based IC design firms eroding the potential markets for competitors from other countries.'

DigiTimes reckons there are about 100 home-grown IC design companies in China.
