Ford Has Begun Production of Focus in Thailand

Ford has begun production of Focus at the company’s new $450m its Thailand manufacturing facility in Rayong.

According to the carmaker, the facility can produce up to six different models at the same time and the Focus is the first model to be produced at the plant which will be followed by the EcoSport compact SUV.

The Thailand facility will produce both sedan and hatch versions of the car, which is offered with two powertrain options, which include the Duratec 2.0litre Ti-VCT GDi engine that generates 170PS and 200Nm of torque matched to a six-speed, dual dry-clutch PowerShift transmission.

The second engine is the Duratec 1.6 litre Ti-VCT engine which is mated to a six-speed PowerShift transmission and offers a power output of 125PS and 159Nm torque.

Ford said that the new car will be launched in the UK in August 2012, and will be launched in both sedan and five-door hatch versions by the third quarter of 2012.
