Wellypower Is Currently Showcasing The New Ceres LED Light Bulbs

Taiwan-based LED firm Wellypower is currently showcasing the new Ceres LED light bulbs with a 270-degree emission angle at FPD International 2011 in Yokohama, Japan. The firm plans to mass produce the product in first-quarter 2012. Since the earthquake in March, Japan has been demanding products that can conserve energy. According to Wellypower, traditional LED light bulbs only have 150 degrees of directional angle, but the Ceres light bulbs have an emission angle that is much wider. The emission LED color blue will go through the yellow surface of the light bulbs to present white light. The light can also be designed to show warm yellow. Sales of LED lighting currently account for 10% of total revenues, according to Wellypower. The firm has been eager to enter the markets of China and Japan. Hopefully in the future, sales of LED lighting products can account for 50% of total revenues. The current retail price of LED light bulbs is around US$20-25. Industry sources indicated that once LED retail prices decrease to US$10, the market will be very different from now. Wellypower pointed out the LED TV industry cannot absorb the current production volume of LED chips. In addition, China-based firms have been expanding enthusiastically causing the price of LED chips to drop. Source: www.digitimes.com
