The acquisition is the latest in a series of investments made by the company and will allow it to expand its portfolio.

Cherry Valley Farms, which is one of only two major duck processors in the UK, currently operates a facility in Caistor which is backed by local agriculture operation of farms and a hatchery.

It employs 320 people and has generated around £45m in annual sales during 2013.

The acquisition is scheduled for completion by the end of December.

Faccenda plans to bolster its position as the only UK supplier of chicken, turkey and duck, as well as create growth opportunities across a broader customer base.

The company acquired Cranberry Foods in 2012 and is building a £35m processing plant in Telford which is expected to become fully operational in 2015.
