The City of Livonia Will Receive a Grant of $82,125 for LED Lighting

The city of Livonia will receive a grant of $82,125 for LED lighting. The Michigan Economic Development Corp. has announced to fund $399,261 in the advanced lighting technology demonstration grants. And the of Livonia becomes one of six Michigan cities, townships and counties to receive part of this grand worthing $82,125 for LED lighting. The grant will fund LED street lighting along Shadyside Street next to Livonia City Hall, extending from Five Mile to the parking area behind the Livonia Police Station, and street lights in the parking lot at the Civic Park Senior Center. The city will be responsible for payment of 10 percent of the material costs and the installation costs. The grants were awarded from the Michigan Energy Office through the federal American Recovery and Reinvestment Act for projects that create and retain jobs, save energy and reduce greenhouse gas emissions. Fourteen other grants were awarded by the Energy Office in July. Grants are administered through the Energy Efficiency and Conservation Block Grant (EECBG) program, which began in 2009 and ends in 2012. Source: www.ledinside.com
