FSA Is Warning People Not to Consume a Certain Batch of Italian Olives Sold in Jars

UK Food Standards Agency(FSA)is warning people not to consume a certain batch of Italian olives sold in jars as they may lead to botulism poisoning.

This warning has been issued after a person experienced botulism poisoning on consuming the olives.

FSA said that it is continuing investigations to locate the source where the olives have been purchased and other places where they may be on sale.

The agency confirmed that the batch of olives was labeled'I DIVINI di Chicco Francesco',which refers to the olive variety in the jar.The product bears a best before date code 06 October 2014 and lot code 161/11.

FSA has warned the consumers not to consume the product.Till date,there no reported reactions associated with the consumption of this product.

Botulism is caused by the bacterium Clostridium botulinum,which attacks the nervous system and can affect people of any age group.Symptoms include blurred vision,difficulty swallowing and difficulty speaking.
