PaperWorks Industries, a US-based paperboard packaging supplier, has invested in a new sheet-fed lithographic press for installation at its facility in Greensboro, North Carolina, to enhance its folding carton printing capabilities.
The company has invested $3m in the folding carton litho press, which features unique configuration.
The value-added enhancements in the new 10-station folding carton litho press include matte and metallic inks, specialty coatings and pigments as well as seven-color printing, the firm said.
PaperWorks packaging sales and marketing senior vice president Brandon Clairmont said: “Brand owners and private label packagers are constantly looking for ways to grab the consumer’s attention with eye-catching package design.
“Traditionally, carton printers would have to run the board through a press additional times to gain the heightened visual and/or tactile effects.
“However, earmarking additional funds for enhanced shelf impact may not always be feasible. Our new one-pass printing capability creates visual attributes in a fast and cost-effective manner.”
The press is also equipped to run extended color gamut color reproduction offering a total of seven printing stations including cyan, magenta, yellow, black, orange, green and violet.
Compared to traditional litho press, which uses a 150-line screen, the sheet-fed lithographic press has capacity to produce high-definition images using 400-plus- line screen.
PaperWorks Industries is engaged in providing recycled paperboard and specialized folding cartons for packaging applications.
