Adidas is preparing to sell Reebok-CCM as part of a broader drive to simplify its business, the New York Post reported. Unnamed sources told the tabloid that Adidas could put Reebok-CCM up for sale early next year. Adidas declined to comment.
Reebok acquired CCM in 2004 and was sold to Adidas in 2006. In 2014, Reebok-CCM sales rose 4 percent in 2014 to 269 million.
In January, Adidas announced the sale of its non-core Rockport shoe brand, which it had also acquired along with Reebok, and in August said it was considering the sale of its golf equipment unit TaylorMade.
In September 2015, The National Hockey League (NHL) and Adidas announced a seven-year partnership in which Adidas will become the authentic outfitter of on-ice uniforms as well as an official supplier of licensed apparel and headwear for the League starting with the 2017-18 season. CCM will remain an official on-ice equipment supplier under the arrangement.
