Milmeq Secured a Contract to Provide Processing Equipment for Its New Facility

Milmeq, a New Zealand-based food processing systems provider, has secured a A$18m ($21m) contract from Australian Agricultural Company (AACo) to provide processing equipment for its new facility at Livingstone Valley in the Northern Territory.

As part of the deal, Milmeq will supply processing equipment, including boning and slaughtering process equipment, refrigeration, air conditioning, chilling and freezing systems, along with operations for materials handling and palletizing.

Work on the project will commence later this month, with the facility scheduled for completion in mid-to-late 2014. The Livingstone Valley facility will process about 220,000 cattle per year.

Milmeq CEO Mike Lightfoot said that the technology will put the new processing facility among the world's leaders in moving to highly technological processes, which the company has developed in New Zealand.

"We also see it as a win for the New Zealand technology and manufacturing sector in a competitive global market," Lightfoot added.
