Softwood Prices in Austria in The Third Quarter 2012 Remain More or Less at The Level

Softwood prices in broad sweeps of Austria in the third quarter 2012 remain more or less at the level that applied at the middle of the year. In many cases the sawmilling industry went into the negotiations conducted until the end of July 2012 for follow-on deliveries with demands for price cuts whereas most forest owners were ready to discuss retention of the existing prices. In view of the limited supply coinciding with brisk demand, however, most processing companies have been unable to get their demands accepted. According to information from forest owners in various provinces, the softwood log prices that had applied until the end of June and partly until the end of July have generally been rolled over into the third quarter. In various cases buyers have been offering additional bonuses for delivering extra volumes or additional payment for uniform quality or for deliveries from the local area. Source: euwid-wood-products
