Japan- and South Korea-based PV makers, in an attempt to export in-house-made PV modules to the US market following US imposition of preliminary anti-dumping tariff rates on PV products imported from China and Taiwan, have talked with Taiwan-based solar cell makers for procuring solar cells or even PV modules to tap markets other than the US and Europe, according to PV industry sources in Taiwan.
These Japan- and South Korea-based makers expect PV module prices in the US market to rise due to the imposition of preliminary anti-dumping tariff rates and plan to use in-house capacities to produce PV modules for export to the US market, the sources pointed out. However, they are not competitive with Taiwan-based makers in production cost for markets other than the US and Europe, the sources explained.
