Skyworks Solutions Has Expanded Its Portfolio of RF Switches

Skyworks Solutions Inc of Woburn, MA, USA (which manufactures analog and mixed-signal semiconductors) has expanded its portfolio of RF switches with a suite of analog control ICs for a variety of Internet of Things applications including the connected home and smart lighting. In addition to supporting high data rates and broad frequency ranges, the fully integrated switch solutions operate at elevated temperatures, making them suitable for embedded smart energy and lighting applications where small form factors are required and ambient temperatures can reach up to 105°C.

For more than 25 years, Skyworks has invested in R&D on switching technologies, as well as the underlying wafer fabrication process and operations, customized packaging and test facilities. At the beginning of 2015, Skyworks had more than 165 switching solutions in volume production. Over the last 12 months, it has shipped more than 3 billion discrete RF switch devices to thousands of customers for more than 100 different end-use applications. The firm currently has more than 75 switch products in active development.

Skyworks' family of IoT switches includes the following devices:

The SKY13587-378LF is a gallium arsenide (GaAs) pseudomorphic high-electron-mobility transistor (pHEMT) FET I/C switch that can be used in various transmit/receive applications. It supports a broad frequency range (20MHz to 6GHz), has low insertion loss (0.35dB typical at 2.45GHz) and high isolation (24dB typical at 2.45GHz) with what is claimed to be excellent linearity performance.

The SKY13588-460LF is a CMOS silicon on insulator (SOI) single-pole triple-throw (SP3T) switch with high linearity and low insertion loss. The device is packaged in a compact quad flat no lead (QFN) 2mm x 2mm x 0.55mm package.

The SKY13587-378LF and SKY13588-460LF are available for sampling and production now.
