The New Product Is Expected Hit The Market in The Second Half of 2013

Thermoplastic resins producer in the US Braskem has announced the launch of recyclable, polyethylene (PE) caps for carbonated beverages.

According to the company, the launch complements its product portfolio for the beverage segment, which already has polypropylene and polyethylene for injection and compression molding processes for caps with or without liners.

Developed at the Technology and Innovation Center in Triunfo, Rio Grande do Sul, the new PE makes possible the production of caps with better sealing performance, while also being sustainable.

The PE grade will allow for reductions in packaging weight. It offers the possibility of manufacturing caps using green polyethylene made from a renewable feedstock sugarcane ethanol, and improves sustainability performance.

Braskem PE Injection Segment head Paulo Sanches said, "Braskem is constantly seeking new ways to take technology and innovation to its Clients, which helps them offer higher-performance products to the market."

The new product is expected hit the market in the second half of 2013.
