Overall Average Finished Steel Price in China Maintained Upward Trend

China's Ministry of Commerce (MOC) has announced that during last week (Dec.16- 22) the overall average finished steel price in China maintained upward trend for the fifth consecutive week.

In the given week, average prices of 10 mm medium plate and 16 mm round bar were up 0.2 percent and 0.1 percent respectively week on week, while the average price of 20 mm welded tube with a thickness of 1.2 mm and 12 mm rebar decreased by 0.2 percent and 0.1 percent week on week, respectively.

In the week ending December 22, prices of minerals in China remained unchanged compared to the previous week. In particular, the average price of lead ore and zinc ore were up 1.3 percent and 0.5 percent respectively. Meanwhile, the average price of iron ore remained stable, while the average price of copper ore and tungsten ore were up 0.9 percent and 0.8 percent respectively, all week on week.

In the given week, the average price of non-ferrous metals was down 0.3 percent compared to the previous week. In particular, the average price of nickel was down 0.6 percent week on week.

In addition, average prices of energy in China were up 1.2 percent week on week. The average price of raw coal was up 2.7 percent, and the average price of metallurgical coke was up by one percent while the average price of crude oil was down 0.5 percent respectively, both week on week.
