Prices Are Still Reported to Be Under Pressure in a Number of Regions

Although the surplus that had built up in supply on the German sawmill-residue markets in the first half-year was reduced again slightly by the middle of the year, supply and demand are still out of balance in a variety of regions in Germany. On the markets for MDF/pulp woodchips in particular, prices are still reported to be under pressure in a number of regions at the beginning of the third quarter. In view of high stocks of raw material, some buyers have had to restrict their intake of woodchips and quotas have even been imposed in scattered instances. The situation on the sawdust markets, on the other hand, has evidently stabilised again slightly in various regions in Germany during the course of the last six weeks. Source: euwid-wood-products
