According to CFIA,Fromagerie St-FidèLe Is Recalling St-FidèLe Brand Cheese Curds

Fromagerie St-Fidèle is recalling its St-Fidèle brand cheese curds as the products may be contaminated with Staphylococcus toxin,according to Canadian Food Inspection Agency(CFIA).

The products being recalled include Cheddar Cheese(package contains cheese curds);Cheddar Cheese(package contains BBQ-flavored cheese curds)with code 3959,manufactured date of 19 or 20 June 2012,bearing best before date code of 19 or 20 July 2012.

The recalled products also include Cheddar Cheese Curd with code 3959,manufactured date of 20 June 2012,bearing best before date code of 20 July 2012.The packs were sold in 85g;200g;400g and 2.5kg formats.UPC codes are 0 55038 06020 5 for 85g;0 55038 06022 9 for 200g;and 0 55038 06021 2 for 400g.

According to the agency,the product was distributed in Quebec.Fromagerie St-Fidèle is voluntarily recalling the affected products and CFIA is monitoring the effectiveness of the recall.

However,there are no reported illnesses till date in Canada associated with the consumption of the recalled product,the agency said.

Food contaminated with Staphylococcus toxin,which is not easily destroyed at normal cooking temperatures,may not look or smell spoiled.Symptoms of Staphylococcus poisoning are nausea,vomiting,abdominal cramping and fever.
