Production of B-Max MPV Is Started by Ford at Its Upgraded Romanian Plant

US carmaker Ford Motor has begun the production of B-MAX multi purpose vehicle (MPV) at its upgraded EUR500m Craiova vehicle manufacturing plant in Romania.

The facility is part of the carmaker's EUR675m investment in engine and vehicle production in Romania.

According to the carmaker, the new model will be offered with both the 100PS and 120PS variants of the 1.0-litre EcoBoost engine.

The new 120PS B-MAX variant will come with Auto-Start-Stop system as standard and will emit CO2 of 114g/km consuming 4.9litre of fuel per 100km.

The carmaker said that the model will feature Active City Stop, which senses the collision and applies brakes automatically, along with Ford SYNC with Emergency Assistance, which is the new voice controlled driver assist system.

Ford said that the new model will be on sale in late 2012.

Ford has also confirmed that the it will build a 1.5-litre petrol engine at Craiova, which will ramped into volume production in early 2013.
