HP introduced two new six-color PageWide ultra high-volume inkjet web presses for pre-print digital corrugated printing.
The new presses, HP PageWide T1190 and HP PageWide T1170, are designed to help packaging converters meet fast-changing brand needs.
Capable of offering offers 67% more throughput productivity compared with the current PageWide T1100S, the new flagship PageWide T1190 Press delivers up to 1000 linear feet per minute in six colors at full press speed.
The presses feature HP A30 true water-based inks, containing no UV-reactive chemistries, thus eliminating the need for additional barriers for food packaging applications.
HP said that the press, with the addition of six-color printing (CMYKOV), expands the color gamut for matching colors. This also opens new digital possibilities for brands, including short-runs, faster turnaround time, and versioning.
The ultra-wide 110-inch Thermal Inkjet technology web presses are ideal for packaging converters, who require analog-to-digital transformation with high-volume productivity in offset quality for pre-print corrugated packaging applications.
HP plans to display its six-color PageWide print samples at the upcoming Fespa 2018 event.
Recently, Italy’s Ghelfi Ondulati has opted for PageWide T1170 press to replace the existing PageWide T1100S, which was installed in the summer of 2016.
Ghelfi Ondulati digital program manager Luca Simoncini said: “The new six-color capability of the PageWide T1170 Press will allow us to address a broader color gamut to help meet the rigorous color demands of southern Europe’s leading brands.
“This color extension will allow us to open new opportunities, with virtually no quality obstacles.”
The PageWide T1170 Press is capable of printing 600 linear feet per minute in six colors, compared with four-color printing at the same speed on the PageWide T1100S, HP noted.
Additionally, DS Smith has selected PageWide T1190 Press as a field upgrade to the T1100S press at its facility in Fulda, Germany.
DS Smith Packaging CEO Stefano Rossi said: “The T1190’s industry-leading 6-color, high-speed 2.8 wide digital pre-print system will enable new efficiencies for our customers.
“Plus, with our new six-color capability, we will expand our gamut and create even greater digital value for brands.”
HP said that the two T1170 and T1190 presses are suitable for coated and uncoated media, from 80gsm to 350gsm.
