In the first eight months of this year, French crude steel output decreased by 2.3 percent year on year to 10,529,000 mt, according to the latest data released by the French Steel Federation (FFA). In the given period, electric arc furnace (EAF) output fell 10.8 percent to 3,666,000 mt, while blast furnace (BF) output increased by 2.3 percent to 6,862,000 mt, both year on year.
In August this year, French crude steel production amounted to 1,161,000 mt, up by 21.6 percent year on year. In August, crude steel production in France using EAFs increased by 9.6 percent year on year to 182,000 mt, while crude steel production using blast furnaces totaled 979,000 mt, rising by 24.1 percent year on year.
