Israel Has Begun Started Rolling out Nationwide Electric Car Network

Better Place,a venture started by Israeli businessman Shai Agassi has begun started rolling out nationwide electric car network in the country.

According to the company,the concept was aimed at eliminating the hurdles to environmentally friendly electric cars,which include high cost and limited range.

Further,the company's network will facilitate the drivers to exchange their depleted batteries for fully charged ones at a network stations,with a full,160km range in about five minutes.

Better Place's swappable battery model is intended to guarantee drivers regarding the range and further allow them not to sacrifice convenience or cash to convert to electric.

Until now,the company has installed four battery stations in central and northern Israel,while is planning to install nearly 40 stations across the country by the second half of 2012.

French carmaker Renault designed the Fluence sedan,currently on sale,which is customized to use Israel's battery stations,and about 140 such vehicles are on road,of which most are driven by Better Place.

Better Place is planning to adopt Denmark as its second launch site in 2012,while Australia is expected to be its first major market,with use in the capital,Canberra,also this year.

The company also has set its sights on China,where it has already launched a sample battery switching station.
