Dairy Queen Confirmed a Security Breach at Several Hundred Locations Across 46 US States

Ice cream and fast-food restaurant chain Dairy Queen has confirmed a security breach at several hundred locations across 46 US states.

The company noted that its investigation team has found evidence that systems of some Dairy Queen locations and one Orange Julius shop were infected with the malicious software, which has been hitting a number of retailers.

The malware infected computers at the company's 395 US locations, out of a total of more than 4,500, which apparently exposed the names, numbers and expiration dates of payment cards, the company said in a statement.

However, Dairy queen maintains there is no indication of stealing of other personal information, including card PINs, social security numbers or email addresses.

Dairy Queen chief executive John Gainor said: "We are committed to working with and supporting our affected DQ and Orange Julius franchise owners to address this incident."

International Dairy Queen said it is offering free identity repair services for one year to customers in the US who made purchases at any of the affected restaurants.
