Apparent Raw-Timber Consumption Increased by 3.2% to 1.236bn M3.

According to the latest figures appearing in the provisional UNECE/FAO Forest Products Annual Market Review 2012-2013, apparent raw-timber consumption in 2012 within the UNECE region, which covers Europe, North America and Eastern Europe, Caucasus and Central Asia, increased by 3.2% to 1.236bn m3. At the same time, consumption of industrial timber was up by 3.4% to 1.025bn m3, while consumption of sawlogs showed a below-average increase of 1.8% to 210.04m m3. Compared to the crisis year of 2009, raw-wood consumption in the UNECE region has therefore risen by almost 20% within the three years to 2012.
