Vertically-integrated LED firm Lextar Electronics has begun shipments of ET8 LED light tubes in compliance with electronic ballast and ultra-thin LED panel lamps, while LED packaging service provider Unity Opto Technology has seen increased shipments of LED light bulbs and LED backlight units (BLUs) for high-end smartphones, according to the companies.
Due to off-season effects, Lextar saw consolidated revenues of NT$1.089 billion (US$35.4 million) for November shrink by 2.44% on month and by 6.60% on year. January-November consolidated revenues of NT$13.393 billion grew 6% on year, Lextar said.
Unity Opto's November consolidated revenues reached NT$877 million, up 0.05% sequentially but up 60.22% on year. Its January-November consolidated revenues totaled NT$8.348 billion, rising 25.87% on year. Due to booming shipments of LED light bulbs, revenue proportion for LED lighting is expected to rise from 30% in the third quarter of 2014 to 35% in the fourth, Unity Opto said.
