Rexam, a consumer packaging company, has conducted third annual 'Cans for Cash' recycling event at its Chicago office in a bid to promote recycling and raise money for charity.
Rexam has collaborated with local recycler United Scrap Metal and received support from other key partners including Novelis, Tri-Arrows Aluminum and Wise Alloys for the project.
According to Rexam, aluminum cans of about 3,200 pounds were collected at the weekend event.
Rexam Beverage Can North America president and CEO Rich Grimley said the company partnered with supply partners and local charities to set a positive example in its local communities.
"Events like these also help us support our customers in demonstrating that the beverage can is an exceptional environmental and sustainability packaging option in the beverage industry," Grimley added.
American consumers are expected to earn in excess of $1bn annually through recycling proceeds in the country.
