Global packaging company AGI-Shorewood has unveiled its new technology that gives consumer packaged goods companies freedom to apply reflective packaging design elements. The new 'refleXions' uses technology in an in-line process to offer an alternative to metalized polyester, metalized transfer or hot foil stamping.
The technology uses a traditional in-line printing application process and enables application of reflective design elements selectively in a single process. It also expands the clients' design options by bringing together manufacturing technology and operations efficiencies.
According to AGI-Shorewood, the user-friendly refleXions eliminates multi-step material processes and helps the customer benefit from a sustainable product with better machineability results at a lower price point.
The technology introduces a leaner production process, does away with the need for additional steps and increases speed to market, while reducing the cost of reflective treatments. It allows metallic details to be applied to designs, which creates areas of reflectivity.
AGI-Shorewood vice president of creative services Duncan Watson said refleXions enables clients to place reflectivity only where they want it without layering over the metallic and diminishing the white, resulting in brighter white space.
The firm said refleXions will represent its proposal to develop pioneering technology to anticipate and respond to its clients' need for cost effective production cycles.
In January this year, US-based Atlas Holdings, owner of AGI World closed its agreement with Shorewood owner International Paper (IP) to combine their consumer-packaging solutions businesses turning both of them into AGI-Shorewood.
