Rigid plastic container manufacturer Plastipak Packaging, an arm of Plastipak Holdings, will pump in $9m for raising output capacity at its manufacturing unit in Pineville, Louisiana, in the US.
The company, which makes rigid plastic containers to cater to food, beverage and consumer products sectors, will add three output lines for polyethylene terephthalate, or PET, products.
Beside, the initiative would translate into the generation of 20 employment opportunities with average benefits worth $40,000 a year. The company will also retain 205 existing employees at the unit.
Louisiana Governor Bobby Jindal said, "For more than a decade, Plastipak has provided great job opportunities for our residents and created high-quality, made-in-Louisiana products. With this expansion, the company will build on its long track record of success.
"Plastipak's investment in its Pineville facility is a testament to Louisiana's strong business climate and our highly skilled workforce. We congratulate Plastipak on its continued growth and commend the company on its commitment to our state and our people."
Founded in 1967, Plastipak is headquartered in Plymouth, Michigan, and designs, manufactures and distributes rigid plastic packaging for some of the world's largest consumer products companies. Plastipak established a presence in Louisiana with the construction of its Pineville facility in 2003.

Plastipak Packaging has also completed the acquisition of APPE with a view to expanding the firm's footprint in Europe.
APPE gets Plastipak Packaging as its rebranded name with immediate effect. Martin Hargreaves has been extended the role of managing director (Europe) for the company which boasts 15 production units across 12 countries in Europe region.
