Spring Bay Seafoods Is Recalling Four Blue Mussels Products as They Contain

Australia-based Spring Bay Seafoods is recalling four blue mussels products as they contain naturally-occurring marine biotoxin Paralytic Shellfish Toxin (PST), according to the Food Standards Australia New Zealand (FSANZ).

These products were distributed to Coles and other retail outlets in Victoria, Queensland, New South Wales, Tasmania, South Australia and Australian Capital Territory.

The following products are being recalled Spring Bay Live Blue Mussels - 500g and 1kg- Use by dates between 31 October 2012 and 10 November 2012; 1kg and 2kg - Use by dates between 29 October 2012 and 06 November 2012; 10kg and 15kg - bears packed on dates between 22 October 2012 and 31 October 2012.

The recall also includes Coles Cooked Tasmanian Mussels with cream white wine in 500g which bears Use by date 12 November 2012.

FSANZ warned customers not to consume the recalled product as it may cause illness and people with weakened immune systems could be at higher risk.

The agency advised customers to return the product to the place of purchase for a full refund.
