Italy's Riva Acciaio is starting to discuss with the judicial custodian on the issue of whether they are able to resume the mills' operations. Riva Acciaio plants are under examination. The Italian steel federation, Federacciai, requested an official and urgent meeting with the Italian prime minister, Enrico Letta, and Zanonato to let them focus on the Italian steel sector and to press for a fast solution. The federacciai pointed out that the stoppages of Riva Acciaio production were caused by the seizure orders issued by the Taranto prosecutors and not by a decision to impose lockouts by Riva group. The prosecutors' decision has raised a great concern for Italian steel producers who see in this episode a serious attack on business freedom, as well as on the operational conditions of Italian companies that produce and process steel which, due to this situation, are in great difficulty, the note added.
