According to a statement released by the Turkish Iron and Steel Producers' Association (TCUD), in the January-November period last year Turkey's scrap consumption decreased by 5.6 percent year on year to 28.23 million mt, due to the 3.2 percent year-on-year decrease in country's crude steel output in the same period, which amounted 31.98 million metric tons.
In given period, Turkey's total domestic scrap supply volume increased by 12.1 percent year on year to 10.40 million metric tons and scrap imports decreased by 13.6 percent year on year.
In the January-November period last year, Turkey's scrap usage by electric arc furnaces declined by 6.4 percent to 26.22 million metric tons, and scrap usage by blast furnaces increased by six percent to 2 million metric tons, both on year-on-year basis.
