In the third quarter of the current year, the crude steel production of Russian steelmaker MMK Group totaled 3.381 million mt, down 0.3 percent compared to the second quarter of the year, while its crude steel output in the first nine months of the year amounted to 9.959 million mt, up 10.3 percent year on year, as announced by the company.
MMK Group's finished steel product output in the third quarter totaled 3.131 million mt, down three percent quarter on quarter, while finished steel product output in the first nine months amounted to 9.277 million mt, up 11.4 percent year on year.
MMK Group's high value-added (HVA) steel product output in the third quarter this year decreased by 0.9 percent quarter on quarter to 1.420 million mt. The share of HVA production in MMK Group's total steel product output in the given quarter amounted to 45.4 percent. MMK Group's HVA steel product output in the first nine months increased by 2.9 percent year on year to 4.134 million mt.
During the third quarter, MMK's cast iron production increased by 2.3 percent to 2.629 million mt, its long steel product output decreased by 0.4 percent to 463,000 mt, and its flat hot rolled product output increased by 0.1 percent to 1.413 million mt - all on quarter-on-quarter basis.
In the fourth quarter this year, MMK Group expects production and sales volumes will be affected by the annual seasonal slowdown in business activity in Russia and CIS countries.
