Italian stainless steel mill Terni will have a long summer break this year and it will be its longest since 2000.
Since the ownership is still uncertain, the mill stopped for summer maintenance the No.4 EAF from August 2nd to September 1st and the No.5 EAF from August 2nd to September 7th.
The weak stainless market is also the reason of the long break. Terni will produce 1.1 million metric tons of crude steel or 1.2 million mt this year due to the weak market demand.
The final sale decision is likely to be taken by mid-September.
It is believed that the only binding offer for Terni was the one from the joint venture led by Aperam and including Marcegaglia and Arvedi.
