A new milk processing plant has been setted in Philippines

A new milk processing plant has been opened in Malungon province in Sarangani, Philippines, which is expected to strengthen the diary industry in the area and provide income for dairy farmers.

The project has been funded by Land O` Lakes Foundation Philippines (LOLPI) in partnership with National Dairy Authority (NDA), provincial government of Sarangani, municipal local government of Malungon, Department of Agriculture, and United States Department of Agriculture (USDA).

About P2m ($47,722) was contributed by the provincial government for the construction of the plant building, reported the Philippine Information Agency.

The project was launched on 21 June 2011, following which 64 local farmers were given basic dairy skills and management training. About 150 imported and four island-born cows were distributed to the farmers.
