Sobeys Quebec Is Voluntarily Recalling Its Store-Made Tropical Fruit Salad

Sobeys Quebec is voluntarily recalling its store-made tropical fruit salad as it may be contaminated with Salmonella Braenderup bacteria, according to the Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA).

The company said that the product being recalled, store-made Tropical Fruit Salad, 16oz., may contain Daniella brand mango as an ingredient.

This affected product at Southbrook Sobeys, 1109 James Mowatt Trail SW, Edmonton, Alberta until 29 August 2012.

There have been no reported illnesses associated with the consumption of this product.

Food contaminated with Salmonella may not look or smell spoiled. Consumption of food contaminated with this bacterium may cause salmonellosis, a foodborne illness. In young children, the elderly and people with weakened immune systems, salmonellosis may result in serious and sometimes deadly infections.
