Mondi Industrial Bags, a business segment of Mondi’s Europe & International Division, has introduced the new the SmartID Bag with a unique code.
The code allows each party along the value chain, from the filler and the distributor to the end user, to upload and access predefined information stored in a database that is related to that code, by scanning with a smartphone.
Mondi Industrial Bags sales & marketing director Claudio Fedalto said, "Each bag gets its own unique code, printed by Mondi, which allows the bag to be identified throughout the value chain - all the way to the consumer."
With a capability to prove to the buyer that the content of the bag is genuine, the SmartID Bag corresponds to the actual quality sold.
The bag allows the concept of tracking all of the products both backwards and forward through the production line, to be extended to other industries apart from pharma.
Products can be monitored along the value chain with the SmartID Bag, allowing users to react to temporary or regional differences in sales immediately by meeting the demands of customers.
Mondi claims that the SmartID Bag can also provide detailed data on the buyer for micro marketing.
