BWMB Will Use This Month's Royal Welsh Winter Fair

The British Wool Marketing Board (BWMB) will use this month's Royal Welsh Winter Fair, Builth Wells, on 26 and 27 November to highlight the significant marketing benefits farmers can gain from selling their wool through the BWMB.

Visitors to the BWMB stand at the event will have the chance to speak to BWMB staff and Board Members to understand how marketing through BWMB can be beneficial to both their businesses and the wider sheep farming community, explained BWMB Producer Relations Manager Gareth Jones.

"BWMB is a cooperative organisation and works for the benefit of the producers. Because of this and the large volume of wool it markets annually, it has strong place in the wool market ensuring it can maximise the value of producers' wool."

No other wool trader in the UK market can claim to have as much influence on the world wool market as BWMB does, he adds. "Only by marketing through BWMB can British farmers be sure of getting the very best price possible for their wool."

And Mr Jones says anyone considering a career in shearing should visit the BWMB stand too. "BWMB is the largest provider of shearing training in the UK and offers a range of courses to suit beginners or experienced shearers.

"No matter what your skill level all shearers can benefit from a BWMB shearing course, either to learn the basics or hone their skills further."

This year has seen more than 1100 individuals partake in BWMB training courses at locations from the north of Scotland to the south west of England, said Mr Jones.

On top of that Mr Jones says the BWMB stand will also feature details of BWMB's involvement in wool marketing both at home and across the world.

One key element of this ongoing promotional work is BWMB's involvement in the Campaign for Wool, said Mr Jones. "The last 12 months have seen some significant expansion on the CfW's work both at home and abroad, with events staged in the USA, China and many other countries to highlight the qualities of wool as both a fashion fibre and an interior furnishing material."
