A Diary Robotic System Will Be Commercialized by Scott Milktech

New Zealand-based Scott Technology has collaborated with farmers to form Scott Milktech, a joint venture to commercialize a robotic system that could be employed in dairy farms.

With the help of an arm, the six-axis robot lifts cups on a rotary dairy milking system onto the teats of cows, reported Stuff.co.nz.

The system has been designed in such a way that it can operate without any human interference. Using camera and software, it locates the udder so that cups can be placed and then begins the milking process.

The JV company demonstrated the milking process on a Canterbury farm with a robotic prototype.

.Scott Technology owns 61% of the total stake in the venture, with Scott Milktech chairman Murray King, Fonterra chairman-elect John Wilson and John Fegan, holding the remaining equity.
