PPG Industries' automotive OEM coatings business in China recently earned the 2012 AAA Green Partner award from FAW-Volkswagen (FVW). Zhang Peijie, general manager of FVW, presented the trophy to Yang Weihua, PPG general manager for automotive OEM coatings, China, during the FVW Environmental Protection Awards Ceremony 2013.
PPG supplies FVW with "green" products such as waterborne coatings, which significantly reduce VOC emissions. In last year's environmental assessment of FVW suppliers, PPG was rated "A" and awarded "A-class Supplier" status by FVW. PPG is also actively cooperating with FVW to develop new colors for waterborne coatings.
"FVW is an important client of PPG's automotive OEM coatings business in China, and earning this award shows that PPG is helping them reduce energy usage and emissions, which contributes to an increase in sustainable development and environmental protection in the auto manufacturing industry," Weihua said. "PPG is the only company capable of fulfilling all the coatings needs for an automotive coatings application shop. We will continue to leverage our technologies and global presence to bring state-of-the-art services and products into China and meet the growing demand of the domestic automotive market."
