The Foton Tunland range has been expanded with the addition of a new single-cab body style.
The two new Tunland cab-chassis variants – priced from $24,990 driveaway for the 4×2 and $26,990 driveaway for the 4×4 – join the three existing dual-cab utes in Foton’s local line-up.
The Chinese brand’s Australian importer, FAA Automotive, says it aims to expand Tunland’s appeal in the work ute market with the single-cab body style, particularly among tradies and farmers.
The Foton Tunland 4×4 single-cab shares its 2.8-litre four-cylinder diesel engine with the dual-cab variants, producing 120kW of power at 3600rpm and 360Nm of torque between 1800-3600rpm. The cab-chassis model uses a claimed 8.3 litres per 100km on the combined cycle, 0.1L/100km less than the heavier dual-cabs.
The Tunland 4×2 single-cab is powered by a less powerful version of the same engine, producing 96kW at 3600rpm and 280Nm between 1400-3000rpm, and consuming a claimed 8.0L/100km combined.
Standard features of the Tunland single-cab include air conditioning; cruise control; power windows and mirrors; AUX and mini-iPod ports; leather-composite steering wheel with cruise, audio and Bluetooth phone controls; and an endorsed local alloy tray.
Dual front airbags and ABS are also included, though electronic stability control is not available.
The Foton Tunland is available through 25 dealerships across the country, with plans to expand to 30 before the end of the year.
