Citroen DS3 Cabrio: Australian Specifications Revealed

Specifications of the Citroen DS3 Cabrio have been released ahead of its Australian launch next month.

Like the DS3 hardtop on which it's based, the Citroen DS3 Cabrio will be offered in two trim levels, DStyle and DSport.

The DS3 DStyle teams an 88kW/160Nm 1.6-litre four-cylinder petrol engine with a four-speed automatic transmission. Combined cycle fuel consumption is rated at 5.9 litres per 100km.

The DS3 DSport pairs a turbocharged 115kW/240Nm version of the same engine with a six-speed manual transmission and returns consumption figures of 6.7L/100km.

At 3948mm long, 1994mm wide, 1483mm tall and riding on a 2464mm wheelbase, the DS3 Cabrio features identical dimensions to the hatchback, but is between 44-66kg heavier at 1208-1231kg.

The DS3 Cabrio variants are equipped almost identically to each other, as well as to their hardtop equivalents.

The DSport trades the DStyle's 16-inch alloy wheels for 17s, cloth upholstery for leather, six-speaker audio system for a seven-speaker unit with subwoofer, and piano black dashboard finish for a carbonfibre-effect surface. It also gains satellite navigation and an efficient shift-point indicator.

The DS3 Cabrio comes standard with front fog lights, LED daytime running lights, leather-bound steering wheel, cruise control, climate control, drilled aluminium pedals, front sports seats and Bluetooth phone connectivity.

The electrically operated roof is available in three colours (Gris Moondust Monogram is exclusive to DSport) and can be opened or closed in 16 seconds at speeds of up to 120km/h. Seven body colours are also available to create 15 different exterior colour combinations.

Citroen Australia will announce DS3 Cabrio pricing at the car's launch on August 13. It is expected to cost a small premium over the DS3 hatch, which is priced from $27,740 for the DStyle and $29,740 for the DSport.

Citroen has sold 122 DS3s in Australia so far this year, three per cent more than in the same period in 2012.
