TV supply chains estimate that TV shipments in 2015 will increase 10% on year to around 230 million driven by large-size TV demand in mature economies and small-size TV demand in emerging economies.
Large-size Ultra HD TVs and other large-size LCD TVs will drive demand in North America while China will also see increased demand for Ultra HD TVs in the 40- and 50-inch segments.
More quantum dot-based TVs will also appear in the market as well as wide color gamut (WCG) units from Japan and OLED TVs at reduced prices, all of which are expected to push TV demand during the year, according to sources in the supply chain.
The suppliers also said Samsung Electronics aims to ship 60 million TVs in 2015, which is expected to benefit AU Optronics (AUO) and Innolux.
Demand from emerging economies, most notably in Latin America, for 24-, 26- and 32-inch units meanwhile is expected to remain steady in 2015, the sources added.
