The world’s largest carrier,China Mobile, added about 10 million 4G subscribers April, compared to a dismal tally of 691,000 3G and 4G additions. The past year has seen massive growth for mobile broadband – 3G and 4G subscriptions – in China, according to new data released by China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology.
For April China Mobile’s user base “only” grew by 10.1 million subscribers, which was down from 19.7 million in March and 16.6 million in February. It was the lowest number since August last year when China Mobile was in the very early stages of its 4G rollout.
China has reached 1.29 billion total mobile users. Given that the Middle Kingdom has an estimated population of under 1.4 billion, that means that well over 90 percent of the population has joined the mobile revolution.
