Siemens Energy Has Been Awarded an Order From Samsung Renewable Energy Inc.

Siemens Energy has been awarded an order from Samsung Renewable Energy Inc. and Pattern Energy Group LP to supply and install 124 wind turbines for the South Kent 270MW wind project in Southwestern Ontario.

"This order reinforces our commitment to our North American factories and our trust in the mid-term stabilization of these markets. We are proud to contribute to the development of wind power in Canada with our technology," said Felix Ferlemann, CEO of the Wind Power Division of Siemens Energy.

The SWT-2.3-101 wind turbines to be used have a power rating of 2.3MW each and a rotor diameter of 101 m. Installation of the turbines at the South Kent project is scheduled to begin this year, with the start of operations expected in Spring 2014.

Nacelles for this project will be assembled at the Siemens facility in Hutchinson, Kan. Blades for the turbines will be manufactured at the company's blade facility in Tillsonburg, Ont.
