Notebook-related IC suppliers expect to see revenues grow 10-15% sequentially in the second quarter of 2016 prior to a major pick-up in the third quarter, according to industry sources.
Orders for notebook-use ICs staged a slight rebound recently as notebook vendors placed short lead-time orders for models to be sold in China during the May 1 holidays and also for educational notebooks from clients in North America and some emerging markets, the sources indicated.
Judging from order visibility, notebook-IC suppliers will see their revenues stay high in April and remain steady in May before sliding down slightly in June, added the sources.
However, most IC vendors expect orders to rebound robustly in the third quarter thanks to the release of new models by brand notebook vendors and a clear-out of inventories in the channel, commented the sources.
