In October this year, Mexican automakers exported 240,316 cars and light commercial vehicles, up 10.96 percent year on year, while country's car and light commercial vehicle production in the same month rose by 1.04 percent year on year to 285,230 units.
Meanwhile, in the first 10 months of the year, Mexico's car and light commercial vehicle production volume increased by 3.05 percent year on year to 2,513,549 units, of which 82.16 percent were exported and 17.84 percent remained in the domestic market.
In October, car sales rose by 6.12 percent year on year in the domestic market to 88,261 units. In the first 10 months, 843,576 cars were sold in the domestic market, up 7.45 percent year on year.
As for exports, in the January-October period this year, Mexico's exports of cars and light commercial vehicles to Asia were up 56.9 percent, while exports to Canada and the US increased by 20.5 percent and 9.3 percent respectively, all year on year. Meanwhile, in the same period, year-on-year decreases were observed in exports to destinations such as Europe, Latin America and Africa, down 27.0 percent, 18.2 percent and 14.1 percent respectively.
