New Surveys Shows that Electronic Cigarettes May Pose Health Problems

According to one survey on electronic cigarette conducted by German federal health education center, electronic cigarettes contain a large number of propylene glycol, which stimulates respiratory tract and can lead to acute symptoms. Thus, electronic cigarettes may do more harm to humans than conventional cigarettes.

The two kinds of cigarettes have much in common in out-looking but internal structure is different from each other. Manufacturer claims that electronic cigarettes contain no harmful ingredients such as tar and aerosol and they are more health than conventional cigarettes.

Doctor Potter from German federal health education center found that manufacturer add lots of propylene glycol to electronic cigarette to make liquid nicotine evaporate from cigarettes. In fact, health problems have been found before this survey. In 2009, FDA analysed electronic cigarette samples from several manufacturers. The result showed that, beside ethanol and glycerol, traces of carcinogen nitrosamine were found. But manufacturers claimed afterwards that conventional cigarettes contained more nitrosamine than electronic cigarettes.

It is reported that the number of people using electronic cigarette is expected to reach over 1,000,000. Related departments in England plan to unveil policy in the standard of making electronic cigarettes.

Now, electronic cigarettes have been banned in some areas of Canada, America and Australia. New regulations have come on to stop using electronic cigarettes in public places in Hanover, Germany.
