European Over-The-Counter Natural Gas Market Volumes in June Jumped 20.6%

European over-the-counter natural gas market volumes in June jumped 20.6% from the previous year, boosted by strong growth on the German GASPOOL, French PEG Nord and Austrian VTP hubs, according to data published by the London Energy Brokers' Association Monday.

Total traded volumes in the UK NBP and continental European markets rose 20.6% to 1,922,251,869 MWh in June 2013, up from total volumes of 1,593,560,867 MWh in June 2012, the LEBA data shows.

June average daily volumes in Europe surged 15% to 96,112,593 MWh with the strongest rise recorded on Germany's GASPOOL hub. The average daily volumes on GASPOOL more than doubled in June to 4,365,206 MWh, up from 1,989,210 MWh last year.

Total volumes on Germany's NetConnect jumped 40% to 116,164,033 MWh, while GASPOOL volumes soared 130.9% to 87,304,118 MWh this June.

French PEG Nord total June volumes soared 110% to 36,676,093 MWh and total traded volumes on Austria's VTP surged to 21,683,353 MWh, up by 85% on the year.

LEBA represents FSA-regulated wholesale market brokers in the OTC and exchange traded UK and liberalized European energy markets.

In the UK NBP gas market, the total traded volumes rose 12% to 920,626,941 MWh, while the average daily volumes also increased by 6.5% to 46,031,347 MWh, LEBA data showed.

Elsewhere on the continent, total volumes on the Dutch TTF gas market rose 13% to 623,239,068 MWh.
