Highest Monthly Production of Methanol Achieved by GPIC

The Gulf Petrochemical Industries Company (GPIC) has in 2013 achieved its highest monthly production of methanol since its inception, which amounted to 1,254 metric tons, GPCI president Abdulrahman Jawahery revealed during the company’s 34th Annual Day Celebration.

He said the company completed 16,611,428 working hours without lost time accident, according to a company press release.

Mr. Jawahery mentioned the achievements of the company in 2013, winning particularly and for the third time in a row on the Arab social responsibility award, and granted by the Arab Network for CSR, for GPIC’s performance in the field of community service and sustainable development.

The other awards won by GPIC in 2013 included the Award of Excellence for 2013 from RoSPA, award for Best Employer in the Middle East and North Africa from AON Hewitt, and the IFTDO Global HRD Award 2013.

GPIC was established in December 1979 as a joint venture between GCC member states for the manufacture of fertilizers and petrochemicals. The joint venture is equally owned by the Government of Bahrain, Saudi Basic Industries Corporation, and Petrochemical Industries Company, Kuwait.

GPIC exports more than 1.1 million tons of products, including Methanol, every year to various world markets including the US, Australia, South America, India, Pakistan, Thailand and other world markets.
